One way that I like to mix metals is dividing the room in thirds (starting with eye level, moving up to above eye level, and then finally below eye level). It's important that you keep the metals in that plane consistent. 

When mixing metals, you get the opportunity to add warm and cool tones to your space. One of my favorite combinations is the warmth of brass with the cool of chrome, or a matt black with a polished nickel as seen in this laundry room.

In the above picture, we mixed polished chrome with black door handles and a black iron framed mirror. The polished chrome and black combination adds a cool, masculine vibe to this boy's bathroom.
