There are both public and private school in the Palos Verdes school system, as well as montessori and project based learning environments. 

The Palos Verdes school district is actually called Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District and here are the main options for the area. 

1. Rolling Hills Prep and Renaissance School: Application Fee $125 One thing about the school: Every year each faculty member focuses on at least one of the four pillars, incorporating it's philosophy into that year's teaching and evaluation (Disciplined Minds, Sound Character, Healthy Bodies, Creative Spirits). They teach 5th grade - 12th grade.

2. Chadwick School
The grades they teach is elementary (lower school) middle school & high school (Kindergarten-12). Chadwick School will challenge and support your student (that's their motto). Student / teacher ratio is 8:1.

3. Peninsula Heritage: They have a Character Quality Program at Peninsula Heritage that has a history of over fifty years. These qualities: caring, respect, attitude, gratitude, self-control and perseverance are taught and modeled in the classroom and also presented at their monthly assemblies. Their character program has been nationally recognized six times from the Character Education Partnership, a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C. They teach K-8th Grade

4. Peninsula Montessori School: Children have to bring their own lunch to school daily. Their goal is to provide a nurturing, stimulating and individualized environment, promoting appreciation and respect for self and others, independence, and enthusiasm for learning. Palos Verdes Campus: Toddler, Pre-Primary, Transition, Elementary Redondo Beach Campus: Toddler, Pre-Primary

5. Vistamar School - Their motto: In their studies, in their work, and in their communities, Vistamar students will embrace lives of learning, integrity, and purpose. High school only: Grades 9 - 12 6. Manhattan Academy: Their five beautiful campuses are located along Manhattan Beach Boulevard in Manhattan Beach, CA. Manhattan Academy is a private Montessori school serving children from 6 weeks of age thru 5th grade.
